Getting the Facts Straight

It was the GOP again who backed out of the marathon budget session set for Friday and Saturday. It is the GOP who doesn't want to compromise, it is the GOP who is speaking out of both sides of there mouth and it is the GOP who is not factual in there statements to the Voters. The GOP is playing this like the spoiled child on the block, either play the game by my rules or I will take my ball and go home. It is the GOP who who has said they don't want a shutdown, but it is the GOP leaders who have filed a lawsuit that if granted will shut down the state.  It is this GOP who have said they have a budget, but haven't said what it is, it is this GOP who turned on the sportsmen who backed them. And it is this GOP who is going to shutdown the state and if by some miracle the state doesn't get shutdown will take full credit for it.

Investigation Finds Man Wrongfully Imprisoned For 3 Of 76 Murders

POTOSI, MO—Almost two decades after Michael Hollings was put on death row for the murders of 76 men, women, and children across Missouri, evidence uncovered by an exclusive Onion investigation has exonerated him of three of the brutal slayings, restoring his dignity when he thought all had been lost.
“I’m so happy to finally have my good name back,” Hollings told reporters Wednesday from his cell at Potosi Correctional Center. “I always told people I could never, ever kill more than 73 people, but when you’re locked in a cage all day, ain’t no one going to hear you out.”
“I wish Mama could have seen this,” added a tearful Hollings, in reference to his mother and fourth victim, Barbara Watts-Hollings. “She’d be real proud of her boy today.”
Frustrated by the incompetence of his public defender but determined to prove he was innocent of a negligible percentage of the horrific crimes for which he received a death sentence, Hollings wrote to reporters from this newspaper last year, confident they would work tirelessly to see justice done.
The Onion’s painstaking investigation, conducted by more than 50 dedicated journalists, revealed that prosecutors suppressed key evidence supporting Hollings’ claim that on the same night he supposedly killed three 7-year-old girls at a slumber party in Blue Springs, he was in fact tearing out the organs of a jogger in the Columbia area.
In addition, a DNA test released to reporters by an anonymous law enforcement source demonstrated conclusively that the semen taken from the three girls did not match the semen deposited by Hollings in the mouths, rectums, and eye sockets of his other victims.
“It’s hard when everyone thinks you did something terrible that you know you didn’t do,” said Hollings, adding that it made him sick to think of preying upon anyone under the age of 10. “But I’m glad at least you reporter guys believed in me when no one else would. Now I can walk around with my head held higher than it’s been in a long time.”
“A lot higher,” added Hollings, cracking a smile.  (From the Onion)

ALL GRANDCHILDREN ARE VERY SMART.

ALL GRANDCHILDREN ARE VERY SMART.

I was eating lunch on the 20th of  February with my 10-year-old granddaughter and I asked her,  “What day is tomorrow?”

She quickly replied, “It's President's Day!”
Now she is a smart kid, so I asked “What does President's Day mean?”

I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln . . . etc.

She replied, “President's Day is when President Obama steps out of the White House, and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of unemployment!”

You know, it hurts when hot coffee spurts out your nose.

Republican senators push shutdown plan

In what appears to have been planned for months, the GOP is having several Senators double talk the state into a shut down. On one hand the senators led by  Limmer and Nienow filed a petition to shut down the state saying it was unconstitutional for the state to spend money without a budget. Speaking out of the other corner of there mouths, they asked the state Supreme Court Monday to confine what would be funded during a government shutdown to what is required by the Minnesota constitution, federal mandates or state law.

They also accused Governor Dayton of a power grab with his filing attempting to keep the state open. There is no doubt in this writers mind that this has been planned by GOP for many months and goes along with their no compromise policy.

Their statement "Our purpose as interveners is to oppose the petitions of the governor and attorney general, which usurp the authority of the Legislature,” really means to usurp the power of the GOP. In the meantime the GOP refuses to answer questions on what might happen to Rep Hackbarth over his horrendous response to a constituent when he responded to her email,
“I can’t believe what I’m hearing from folks?  All, similar letters to yours.
Are you a Union member?  If so, are they the communists giving you this propaganda?” Hackbarth allegedly wrote.
“Do you know the who, what, when, where, why, and how, of Fidel Castro? Hitler rose to power using and blaming the jews for the destruction of the German economy.  Castro built his army of murderers by blaming the rich bankers and capitalist for destroying Cuba and taking advantage of the Cuban people.  Hummmm?” the alleged Hackbarth e-mail concludes.

I asked myself after reading that a few times, is that what GOP in general believes, that unions are communist and people belonging to unions, or for that matter people who are Democrats will build armies of murderers to take power in this country and that wanting to tax the rich is the same as Hitler killing millions of jews???? I have to admit that I have been a Republican for a long time, but the more I look at Hackbarth's statement, the more I pause to think some more.

Hackbarth was earlier stripped of his leadership roles when he was found
parked in a St. Paul Planned Parenthood lot and was seen with a handgun. According to a Star Tribune article he was apparently checking on a girlfriend who he suspected of having dinner with another man.  You can draw your conclusions on that one, but anyway the GOP is not answering any questions.

It appears that the GOP is busy spinning tales on hand and on the other as quiet as church mouse.

THE CARE BILL HB 3200

JUDGE KITHIL IS THE 2ND OFFICIAL WHO HAS OUTLINED THESE PARTS OF THE CARE BILL.

Judge Kithil of  Marble Falls,  TX -  highlighted the most egregious pages of HB3200

Please read this........ especially the reference to pages 58 & 59

JUDGE KITHIL wrote:

** Page 50/section 152:  The bill will provide insurance to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally.

** Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.

** Page 65/section 164:  The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the
Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN).

** Page 203/line 14-15:  The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax.  (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?)

** Page 241 and 253:  Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees.

** Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient's age.

** Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.

** Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations.  Those on Social Security will be required to attend an "end-of-life planning" seminar every five years. (Death counseling..)

** Page 429,  line 13-25:  The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order.
HAD ENOUGH????  Judge Kithil then goes on to identify:

"Finally, it is specifically stated that this bill will not apply to members of Congress.  Members of Congress are already exempt from the Social Security system, and have a well-funded private plan that covers their retirement needs. If they were on our Social Security plan, I believe they would find a very quick 'fix' to make the plan financially sound for their future."

A most interesting active map and a history of the formation of America.

Best history lesson you've had in a long time - maybe the best ever! Save and enjoy all year! You can click on each state for more about them. This moving map of the country shows it from the beginning of the 13 states and going through the present. It includes the acquisitions from England and Spain, the Slave states, the Free states, a segment on the Civil war, it includes some mentions of Central and South America, etc. One of the things I especially liked was showing the Indian Nations as they were during the Indian Wars: Modac, Miwok, Mujave, Nez Perce, Flat Head, Crow, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Navajo, Apache, Dakota, Sioux, Kiowa, Wichita and Comanche. I know you'll enjoy this site, especially if you enjoy American history, but have forgotten a lot of what was learned in school. Turn on your sound, as the narration is a significant portion of the presentation. Send this to teachers that you know and older children who would like to watch it. The GOP has Lied All Along

Four Republican senators plan to petition the Minnesota Supreme Court Monday afternoon, asserting that the courts should not decide what to fund in the event of a shutdown.
The petition will be filed on behalf of Sens. Warren Limmer, Scott Newman, Sean Nienow and Roger Chamberlain. It states that only constitutional and statutory mandates should be funded during a shutdown, rather than leaving it up to the courts
The senators argue, for example, that continued education funding is already written into law.
They write that in 2001 and 2005, "it is evident the courts were used as pawns in a political chess game until public outrage brought the politicians to reason. Their inability to reach an accord allowed the court in 2005 to run government through the power of the purse. The republican form of government became the despotic government Thomas Jefferson feared."
The petition then quotes Jefferson from 1782 writing: "All the powers of government, legislative, executive, and judicial, result to the legislative body. The concentrating these in the same hands is the precise definition of a despotic government. It will be no alleviation that these powers will be exercised by a plurality of hands and not a single one.
