Homicide charges pending for father of 3 dead girls
River Falls City Administrator Scot Simpson gave an update to the media Wednesday morning about the deaths of three young girls who were found dead in this home in River Falls, Wis.
Homicide charges were pending Wednesday for the father of three girls who were found dead in their home in River Falls, Wis.
Authorities on Wednesday identified the sisters as Amara Schaffhausen, 11; Sophie Schaffhausen, 8, and Cecilia Lee Schaffhausen, 5.
The sisters were found dead about 3:30 p.m. inside the house in the 2700 block of Morningside Drive. Police said that the house smelled of gas when officers entered and that no one else was in the home.
Police went to the address after the girls' mother called police with her concerns for the children's safety because of threats made by their father. The parents reportedly are divorced, said Scot Simpson, River Falls city administrator.
Aaron Schaffhausen, 34, turned himself in to the police about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. He is being held in the St. Croix County Jail on suspicion of three counts of first degree intentional homicide. Formal charges will be determined by the county attorney.
The mother is safe and assisting police.
"We continue to work on determining answers to this tragedy," Police Chief Roger Leque said in a statement Wednesday.
