Regardless of which party is at fault in this mess and both parties are placing the blame on the other, Governor Dayton needs call a special session and pass a lights on bill. The recent estimate is that it will cost Minnesotans 18 million a week with the state shut down, but will grow exponentially as time goes by, and through a trickle down effect from tens of thousands of laid off state workers losing there jobs and spending abilities. Also private companies have started laying off workers and if public transportation shuts down more will lose there jobs.
Nobody has mentioned the small businesses in Northern MN, that rely on the tourist trade and with state parks shut down, they are definitely hurting right now.
So, it is time for both parties to do the right thing, Governor Dayton call a special session on Tuesday. Democrat and Republican legislators, do what the people of Minnesota want, and pass a lights on bill.
