Bear complaints logged in Washington County

The Washington County Sheriff's Office posted this on their Facebook page earlier today:
The Washington County Sheriff's Office and several other local agencies are receiving numerous complaints of black bears in citizens yards and on roadways. Although bear attacks in the wild are rare we encourage everyone to keep their distance if there is a bear present. For more information about bear safety, please visit the U.S parks website. http://usparks.about.com/od/backcountry/a/Bear-Safety.htm
Not much more needs to be said, really. I've believed for some time that without significant population controls, the big mammals with teeth that worry people but thrive among us -- bears, wolves, coyotes -- will follow the same trend as the deer: They'll go everywhere.
